Often, yes, when water escapes suddenly and damages the home. The faulty hose or washing machine may not be covered, but the damaged flooring, units or belongings can be a separate part of the claim.
What usually leaks?
- Inlet hoses can split or work loose.
- Waste hoses can come out of position.
- Door seals can fail.
- Connections can leak after the machine has been moved.
Checking hoses and connections
- Check hoses for cracking, bulging or rubbing.
- Make sure the waste hose is properly secured.
- Do not push the machine back so tightly that hoses are crushed.
- Investigate small leaks instead of continuing to use the machine.
Look at the water-damage wording
Check escape-of-water cover and the excess. If you want protection for the appliance itself, that is usually a different question from insuring the damage caused by the leak.
